Southern Dales - Grassington

Grassington by Andrew Hopkins

One of the most popular villages in Wharfedale, Grassington lies within the Yorkshire Dales National Park and retains all its charm. Centred around a busy cobbled square are a selection of family owned shops offering quality food, clothing and gifts, cosy cafes, restaurants and places to stay.

Grassington is a traditional working village and makes an excellent base for exploring Upper Wharfedale’s moorland and riverside trails. There is pony trekking nearby, fly-fishing on the River Wharfe, a bowling green, and an underground world of stalagmites and stalactites can be enjoyed by the whole family at the nearby show caves. Alternatively, there are potholing events for the experienced caver organised by the Yorkshire Dales National Park.

Art exhibitions and craft fairs are held regularly in a variety of venues, but a must for all visitors are the local festivals!
