Understand More About Public Relations

Ronn Torossian

Every individual, business, and company have positive or adverse public relations. Public Relations are the methods used to relay information about the organizations, products, or services of an individual or business to influence consumers’ thinking about their involvement with that entity.

The term is often associated with journalism, where individuals are assigned to write stories that reflect on different public relations topics, such as who is in charge of a small-town community center?

Public relations also play a role in businesses; they help companies make products that sell more by increasing customer satisfaction and perceptions of these companies.

There are many ways to get involved in public relations: journalism, blogging, social media marketing efforts, and promotional events management, among others.

Public relations have been around since the 19th century. Martha Malik, in her article, “History of Public Relations,” states that public relations, when it came into existence in the mid-19th century, was a voluntary, self-regulating process practiced by people or organizations who had an ethical obligation, to be honest with members of society.

In 1865 a man named Daniel Eddy established a firm called Eddy and Company. This company was in charge of representing different products like banks and railroads. The firm’s main goal was to help these organizations deliver the best product possible without being selfish and doing things only for their own sake.
